— The funeral for Jerry Jerome Usery, 72, of Elkmont will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at McConnell Funeral Home with Robert Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation is from  6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the funeral home.

Jerry Usery was born Feb. 19, 1941, in Elkmont to Coy Usery and Mary (Bet) Usery. Mr. Usery attended Elkmont High School, Athens Bible School, and graduated from Athens High School in 1959. He attended Freed Hardeman University and Athens State University. He was the owner of Usery Heating and Air Conditioning, Usery’s Magnavox store in Decatur, Usery Aluminum Products and Athens Overhead Doors.

He was a charter member of Elkmont Lions Club. He loved to work at the kiddie carnival. He loved to watch TV and was an avid coffee drinker. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke with people. He was well known by everyone in the Elkmont community. 

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his loving wife of 23 years, Mary Lynn Usery of Elkmont; one son, Chris Usery and wife Karen of Ardmore; three daughters, Liz Bullard of Michigan, Michelle Hasting and husband Terry of Ardmore and Anna Grace Usery of Elkmont; mother, Mary Usery of Athens; one brother, Jimmy Usery of Athens; five grandchildren, Lyndsey Murphy, Dustin Murphy, Cody Usery, Stratton Hasting and Haley Hasting; five great-grandchildren, Connor Murphy, Jayda Murphy, Dustin Murphy, Alanah Usery and Brady Markowieze;  nieces and nephews, Steven Usery, Deela Hicklen, Kip Jackson and Cory Wilbanks.  

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Usery, Chris Usery, Steven Usery, Lee Hicklen, Kip Jackson and Joe Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers are Terry Hasting, Dustin Murphy and Cody Usery.
