Gleen Lowery

— The funeral for Gleen Harold Lowery, 80, of Athens will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Spry Funeral Home with Jeff Smith and Steve Cline officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lowery died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at home.

Gleen Lowery was born April 24, 1933, in Limestone County to George and Bertha Lowery. He retired from Lynn Layton Chevrolet in Decatur. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the National Guard. Mr. Lowery was a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Athens.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ann Ozell Taylor Lowery of Athens; daughter, Pamela Edney of Decatur; son, Dr. Tracy Lowery and wife April of Huntsville; grandchildren, Shellee Blaxton, Clint Barley, Adam Lowery, Sara Lowery, Kathryn Lowery, Brady Lowery and Bailey Lowery; great-grandchildren, Braxton Barley, Davis Barley, Brooks Blaxton, John Allen Blaxton, Brooklyn Barley and Emmy Lowery; brother-in-law, Elton Abernathy of Athens; and special caregiver, Rosa Bozart.
