Carter “Cowboy” Brown

— The funeral for Carter “Cowboy” Brown, 66, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McConnell Funeral Home with Donald Terry officiating. Mr. Brown died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Limestone Health Facility.

Burial will be in Tanner United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Carter “Cowboy” Brown was born Aug. 1, 1946, in Winchester, Tenn., to Henry Duke Brown and Willie Blanche Peden Brown. Mr. Brown was a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Stanley Gordon Baker; and one brother, John Henry Brown.

Survivors include one son, James Alan Brown of Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan; two daughters, Christy Gail Brown and Jessica Renee Brown, both of Athens; grandchildren, Landyn Alan Haggard and Grayson Dale Vanschoiack, both of Athens; one brother, Jimmy Wayne Brown of Cullman; and one sister, Doris Yeager of Akron.

Pallbearers are Gerald Haggard, Randall Haggard, Josh Vanschoiack, Blake Baker, Johnathan Haggard and Jeremy Garrett. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Haggard, James Brown and Philip Peden.
