William McElyea

— William James McElyea, 81, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at his residence. Mr. McElyea was born Aug. 30, 1931, in Limestone County to Eugene McElyea and Beegie Cannon McElyea.

Services for Mr. McElyea are at 7 p.m. Saturday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 until 6:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Athens City Cemetery with Bud White officiating.  

He was an Army veteran, retiring with 24 ½ years of service.  

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Chittam McElyea; son, Jim McElyea and wife Pauline; daughter, Wanda Campbell; grandchildren, P.J. McElyea, Jessica Fisk, Deirdre Dore, Shannon Campbell, Ben Campbell and Brian Campbell; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
