Good morning, Athens and Limestone County!

As we all know, Grease is the word in town this weekend and, I’m sure, a lot of you feel pretty fried, as well.

But, you have a week to recover because next weekend we’ll all be fiddlin’ around with the best of them.

This is an exciting time to live and work in this area and we have so much going on. I’m just thrilled and honored to be a part of it.

As the new managing editor of The News Courier, I plan to make sure our newspaper continues to bring you the latest news, events and happenings around Athens-Limestone County.

We’re at your doorstep, mailbox or newsstand five days a week. Pick up a copy, sit down at the table with your coffee and discover what’s going on.

Our roots and heritage may be in the 19th and 20th centuries but we are a 21st century news provider.

Visit us online at and log on for updates and breaking news. For those who prefer the “look” of the printed paper, The News Courier has an “e” edition which is essentially the newspaper on your computer screen.

Of course, we can’t forget social media. You can find The News Courier on Facebook — like us — and Twitter - @newscourier.

Our veteran staff of professionals is dedicated to making sure The News Courier is your source for information on everything Athens-Limestone County — no matter which platform you prefer.

We’re here for you.
