Showing our appreciation

The News Courier

— Thank you!

They are just two simple words but they carry a lot of meaning.

On Tuesday, The News Courier is thanking you with Community Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at our office on West Green Street across from the Farmers Market.

It won’t be just another Appreciation Day, either. There will be a couple of firsts this Tuesday.

The Ardmore TN/AL Lions Club’s Family Train and the Athens Lion Club’s Children’s Train will run on the streets around the Farmers Market. It will be the first time the two trains will run at the same location.

Also, there will be a tasty debut as Russell Stover Candies introduces its mini cupcakes.

There will be music by the As Is – No Warranty band under the big tent with Fowlers Auction providing chairs so you can sit and tap your feet to the music.

For the kids, there is a display for Halloween-themed photos and a “Pumpkin Pictures” coloring contest.

Of course, there will be food. The Ardmore Alabama/Tennessee Veterans Group will be grilling hot dogs; Pepsi is providing soft drinks and bottled water; Legacy Home Group is bringing the chips; CFM Mortgage has the coffee; CB&S Bank is supplying the popcorn and Costco will have the desserts.

Don’t forget to check out the Athens State, WOW cable, North Alabama Research Center and Harvest Feed Mill booths for some giveaways.

So, make your plans to bring the tykes for a fun-filled midday treat — or treats — Tuesday.

And, by the way …

Thank you.
