Helps for a good reality check
By Curtis Coleman for The News Courier
Frequently, we hear someone say, “He (or she) needs a good reality check!”
The truth of the matter is, we all need a good reality check from time to time. One that has proven to be very helpful to me is reflecting on sayings, quotations, prayers and scriptures that have come to me through reading. Let me share some of these thoughts for your reflection as well.
1. There are no coincidences, only those situations where God chooses to remain anonymous.
2. By forgiving even one person today, I am helping to create a more loving, peaceful world for myself and others.
3. Open to the grace of God, I am abundantly and continually blessed.
4. Lord, grant me the common sense to profit by my yesterday, the wisdom to live to the utmost my today, and the vision to cope with my tomorrow.
5. A sense of humor helps you level out the molehills of daily, petty annoyances, mishaps, inconveniences, and frustrations that are bound to come your way instead of making mountains out of them.
6. Some minds are like concrete, thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.
7. He who is always tripping over his ego is doomed for many a fall.
8. Today, not: “Everybody does it,” but: “God wills it,” shall be my standard.
9. Today shall be the day of the honest heart — honest to God, myself and others.
l0. Let your words be sweet; you may have to eat them later.
11. Living the good news of the gospel is the most effective way to spread it.
12. With God, our mistakes become opportunities to grow.
13. In a changing world, God's love is unchanging.
