Resident named to Auburn’s dean’s list

Mitch Carter, the son of Anne and Buddy Carter, was named to the dean’s list at Auburn University for the spring semester with a 4.0  He is in the College of Science and Mathematics majoring in GIS.

Madison resident graduates from Alabama

Savanna Lauderdale graduated May 5 from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a Bachelor of Arts in English and American studies. She will enter grad school at the university in the fall.

She is the daughter of Dee and Susan Lauderdale of Madison and the granddaughter of Coy and Joann Rochester and Sheila Lauderdale of Athens.

Student recognized by Achievement Academy

The United States Achievement Academy announced that Brianne Hargrove of Athens has been recognized as a student of excellence in vocational and technical education.

Brianne, who attends Elkmont High School, was nominated by Pam Fowler, a teacher at the school. Brianne will appear in the United States Achievement Academy’s Official Yearbook, which is published nationally.

Brianne is the daughter of David and Regina Hargrove of Athens. She is the granddaughter of Jimmy Keeton of Harvest and Marvilene Hargrove of Athens and the late Wynell Keeton and Jimmy Hargrove.

Students to represent Limestone County

Ally Pritchett of Ardmore High School and Jordan Corneil of Athens Bible School have been chosen to represent their schools at the 2012 session of American Legion Auxiliary Girls State held on the campus of Troy University.

Pritchett and Corneil will speak to sponsoring organizations, American Legion Post 49 and the Ladies Auxillary and others about their experiences.

Pritchett is the daughter of David and Kim Pritchett and the granddaughter of Dr. Hugh Pritchett and the late Louise Pritchett, Jimmy Hughes, and Libby Torrence. Pritchett’s activities and honors include varsity volleyball, FCA, Senior Beta Club, Spanish Club, Math Club, Yearbook Staff, Student Advisory Board, First National Bank Advisory Board, University of Alabama Early College Youth Ambassador and homecoming representative.

Corneil’s is the daughter of John and Teresa Corneil. Corneil activities and honors include volleyball, History Club, baseball stats, Beta Club, Yearbook Staff, basketball stats and DAR-JAC Banner Design national winner, first place.
