Athens sweeps Muscle Shoals

— Off to their best start in years, the Athens High School Golden Eagles completed a sweep of Muscle Shoals in Class 5A, Area 15 baseball action Tuesday night with a 9-6 win.
On Monday, Athens beat the Trojans 3-0 behind a two-hitter by Colin McMurry. McMurry struck out nine batters.
At the plate, Tyler Dorning and McMurry each had a double, while Kyle Chronister, Chandler Brock and Drew Hill each had a single.
The two wins lifted Athens to a 16-4 record and 2-0 in area.

On the road Tuesday night, Chandler Brock led the way with a three-run home run.
Keeton Craig got the win for Athens. He struck out six batters.
Todd Dorning doubled, McMurry hit a single and double, and Keith Chronister hit two singles.
