The Athens Police Department is still looking for teams to participate in its 3rd annual four-man golf scramble coming up Sept. 19 at Southern Gayles Golf Course in Ardmore.
The deadline to sign up for the event is Sunday, Sept. 7.
As of now, Officer Wesley Jarrett said only a handful of teams signed up for the tournament and organizers are in need of several more participants to complete the scramble field.
“We’re looking for anybody to sign up,” Jarrett said. “Whether they’re wanting to play competitively or just play for fun. They need to go ahead and sign up before time runs out.”
The cost to sponsor a team is $240 with $100 of that going toward green fees and $40 going toward food and a team t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded in two flights, as well as for the longest drive, longest putt, straightest drive and closest to the pin on the par 3 holes.
Jarrett said all proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Athens Police Department Reserves, which allows the department to help pay for items such as reserve training, equipment, vests, guns, ammunition for use in training at the firing range, and Tasers.
For more information about the tournament, contact Jarrett at the Athens Police Department at (256) 233-8700.
