An injury to West Limestone’s Willie Rivera after a hard hit late in the second half of the Wildcats game against Elkmont Friday night, led to some tense moments at Boss Hill Stadium.
The game was delayed roughly 10 minutes while athletic trainers, coaches and emergency responders secured Rivera’s neck in a brace and strapped him to a spine board to be taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital for evaluation.
All signs proved to be positive as he gave the crowd a thumbs-up while being carried off the field.
According to West Limestone head coach David Arnsparger Saturday, Rivera was doing well. He said Rivera was released late Friday night with no spinal injury or concussion. However, Arnsparger did say the senior re-injured his knee.
