Track leaders make wager on BCS game

— When The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame take on Alabama’s Crimson Tide on Jan. 7, Chicagoland speedway’s President Scott Paddock and Talladega Superspeedway’s Chairman Grant Lynch will be playing close attention.

A bet has been placed on the game and the stakes are high: the loser buys lunch for the entire staff of the winning track and has to pose for a video in the winning team’s colors.

Paddock, who played basketball for Notre Dame, has placed his bet on his Alma Mater, while Lynch will be betting on Alabama — his team’s biggest rival.

“Although I am usually a diehard Auburn Tigers fan, when the SEC is represented in the National Championship I throw my support behind the conference,” Lynch said  “You won’t hear me say this often, but for the sake of the bet, ‘Roll Tide!’”

If the Tide is to win the BCS Championship, Paddock will have to purchase Chicago-style deep dish pizza for the Talladega Superspeedway staff.  And if the Fighting Irish pull off a victory, Grant Lynch owes the staff of Chicagoland Speedway Alabama’s famous Dreamland Barbecue.

The loser will also be forced to film himself wearing the opponent’s team gear, and the video will be shown on the Sprint Vision screens at the winner’s next race.
