Tanner leads at halftime at 2A state championship

— Red-hot shooting has propelled Tanner to a 12-point halftime lead as the Rattlers lead LaFayette 30-18 at halftime.

Tanner, which led 17-10 after the first quarter, took a 13-point lead early in the second as Jon-Jon Fletcher coolly drained a trey from the top of the key and deliberately backpedaled on defense with a poker face.

Fletcher, who is the Rattlers’ lead reserve, came on early in the first to spell Jace Haggermaker, who was whistled for his second foul. Fletcher finished the first half with eight points and two assists as Tanner shot 47.6 percent from the field and  held the Bulldogs to 25 percent. The Rattlers were also on fire from long distance, shooting 57.1 percent.

Bubba Smith also had eight points and three assists in the first half.

LaFayette’s Qua Boyd had eight points on 3-of-7 shooting from the field and was 2-of-2 from the 3-point line, while playing all 18 minutes in the first two quarters.
