BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Birmingham police are investigating the shooting death of an unidentified man who was killed over the weekend.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired around 8 p.m. Sunday and found the injured man on the scene. He was later pronounced dead.
Police said no one has been arrested in the case.
The man’s death is the city’s 15th homicide of 2009 and was Jefferson County’s third homicide on Sunday.
49-year-old Melvin Howard died at UAB Hospital after being shot in Wylam on Saturday. Jefferson County deputies arrested a 16-year-old Sunday night who they said shot and killed his mother in Graysville.
