ATMORE, Ala. (AP) — A man shot by Atmore police during a chase early Sunday has died at a Mobile hospital.

Authorities said Tuesday that 33-year-old Danny Ray Williams died late MondayRandyremains in critical condition at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile.

Atmore public safety director Glenn Carlee says Williams was shot early Sunday when police chased him in a Nissan following a report of shots fired at an Atmore residence about 1 a.m.

Police say Williams attempted to run over two officers, prompting gunfire. Williams was transported to the University of South Alabama Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition until his death.
