ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (AP) — A train conductor has been killed when he was caught between the last car he was riding and a scrap metal heap at Progress Rail yard in Albertville.
Marshall County Coroner Marlon Killion said Thursday that the victim of Wednesday night’s accident was identified as 33-year-old Dustin Moles of Southside.
Killion said the conductor had been directing the engineer of the 75-car train by radio on how close he was to the scrap metal heap and the end of the track when the engineer lost radio contact with him.
He said investigators from the Denver-based Omni Trax, a railroad safety overseer, are still at the scene trying to determine how the accident occurred.
