Wintry mix possible across parts of Alabama

— BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Forecasters are warning of the potential for a wintry mix of snow and sleet across metro Birmingham and other parts of north central Alabama.

The National Weather Service projected that further south, in the Montgomery area, a mixture of rain and snow was possible on Thursday.

Forecasters added that the forecast included a high degree of uncertainty since temperatures were near the freezing mark.

The weather service's hazardous weather outlook indicates that a mix of wintry precipitation would spread across central Alabama during Thursday morning, with a light snow and sleet mix possible as far north as the Interstate 20 corridor.

A mixture of rain and snow was expected near and along the I-85 corridor.
