State launches amateur bass fishing tournament series

ATHENS — The state is launching a bass fishing tournament for amateur anglers based on the professional series. Gov. Robert Bentley and other officials announced the creation of the Alabama Bass Trail Tournament Series today.

The team-style tournament for amateurs will be held on 10 lakes on the Alabama Bass Trial and the championship will be held on an 11th lake.

The 11 lakes that form the Alabama Bass Trail are Lake Guntersville, Wheeler Lake, Pickwick Lake, Lewis Smith Lake, Neely Henry Lake, Lay Lake, Logan Martin Lake, Lake Jordan, Alabama River (Millers Ferry), Lake Eufaula and the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta.
