Honda supplier opening in northeast Alabama

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (AP) — A company that supplies parts for the Honda plant in Talladega County is holding its grand opening in northeast Alabama.

Newman Technology of Alabama is kicking off operations Friday in the Albertville Industrial Park. It makes door sashes and exhaust components for Honda and Acura vehicles manufactured in Lincoln.

Construction began in April 2012, and Newman Technology already employs 130 people.

Local and state leaders including Gov. Robert Bentley will attend the opening.

Later, Bentley will participate in a groundbreaking for an industrial expansion that will create jobs for 200 people on the other side of the state in Russellville.
