— MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Wearing hats in the Alabama Senate chamber is usually forbidden, but senators made an exception Tuesday for an Alabama fan to put on an orange cap shaped like an eagle.
Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh, an Auburn fan, and Sen. Roger Bedford, an Alabama fan, made a wager on the Iron Bowl that the loser would wear a cap from the winning school on the opening day of the 2014 legislative session.
The Senate suspended its rules Tuesday to allow Bedford to put on the cap that Marsh brought him. Bedford said he pulls for Auburn in every game except the Alabama game.
Marsh said he expected to wear an Alabama cap because they made the wager before anyone thought Auburn would play for the championship.
