— PRATTVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the apparent drowning of a 2-year-old Prattville girl.
The Montgomery Advertiser reports (http://on.mgmadv.com/17CSqxZ) that the drowning happened Tuesday at a swimming pool at a Prattville home. Findings from the investigation will be presented to a future session of the Autauga County grand jury.
Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson said family members pulled the girl from the pool. The first police officer to arrive at the scene began CPR and turned the life-saving efforts over to fire medics when they arrived. The girl was unresponsive when medics transported her to Prattville Baptist Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Though a grand jury will consider the case, Thompson says that it appears to have been an accidental drowning.
