— MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama's revenue commissioner, Julie Magee, is the new leader of the Multistate Tax Commission.
Magee was elected at the group's meeting in San Diego, Calif., and became the chair on Thursday. Magee said she is honored to be the first Alabamian to hold the position. She previously served as the commission vice chair in 2012 and treasurer in 2011.
The commission is an intergovernmental state tax agency that works on behalf of states in the administration of tax laws that apply to multistate and multinational businesses. It involves 47 states and the District of Columbia.
Magee was appointed Alabama's revenue commissioner in January 2011 by Gov. Robert Bentley.
