Escaped teens captured in north Alabama

— TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Authorities have recaptured two of three juveniles who escaped from a state youth center near Montgomery.

Tuscaloosa police say 16-year-old Brandon Kyle Evans was apprehended in north Alabama. A second teen also was caught in Huntsville but hasn't been identified.

Further details weren't immediately available Wednesday.

Evans and two other juveniles fled from the Mt. Meigs youth facility on Saturday night. Authorities say a worker was beaten and lost a thumb in a melee that included the youths crashing through a gate in a worker's car.

Evans is from Tuscaloosa County, and police considered him dangerous. Authorities say he is charged escape, conspiracy to escape and assault.

There's no immediate word on the third teen who escaped.
