Train derails in Talladega, narrowly misses taxi cab

— TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama cab driver had a near-miss with a freight train when it derailed in Talladega.

Chris Powell of Deluxe Taxi tells The Daily Home (http://bit.ly/10wZzjW ) he was parked near train tracks when a CSX train left the tracks Tuesday evening.

Powell says he looked in his rear view mirror and saw a box car coming at him. Powell says he punched the gas and got out of the way.

One of the cab's headlights was broken, but Powell wasn't hurt.

Talladega Police Chief Alan Watson says no hazardous materials were on the cars. They appeared to be carrying marble dust and limestone slurry from Sylacauga.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
