Police: Decatur man paid fine with bogus $100 bills

— DECATUR, Ala. (AP) — Decatur police have arrested a man they say tried to pay a court fine with counterfeit $100 bills.

Authorities say 22-year-old Deborious Rashad Swoopes of Decatur is charged with possession of a forged instrument in the case.

Police say they received a report in July that someone had used two counterfeit $100 bills while paying a fine at the magistrate's office.

An investigation identified a suspect, and police said Monday Swoopes has been arrested.

Police say Swoopes was taken to the Morgan County Jail with bond set at $5,000.

Court records are yet available to show whether he has a lawyer.
