HACKLEBURG, Ala. (AP) — Alabama's first lady plans on visiting an elementary school damaged by last April's devastating tornadoes to donate books.
Dianne Bentley is scheduled to visit Hackleburg Elementary School on Tuesday to donate 100 books to the tornado-damaged school.
The Scholastic Publishing Company has donated more 400 books to be distributed by Bentley to Alabama schools. She has chosen four schools ravaged by the April 27 tornadoes that killed about 250 people and left thousands more without homes.
Hackleburg Elementary School is currently rebuilding after being significantly damaged. The news school is expected to open for the start of the 2013-2014 school year.
