Crenshaw County official changing parties

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Republican Party officials are planning an event in Montgomery to welcome a party change by Crenshaw County Probate Judge Jim Perdue.

Party Chairman Bill Armistead announced that he will join Republican legislators at the Statehouse on Wednesday morning to welcome Perdue to the party.

Perdue was re-elected in November as a Democrat. He has served as president of the Alabama Probate Judges Association.
