GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) — Etowah County law enforcement agents have arrested 44 people in crackdown on drugs
The Gadsden Times reports (http://bit.ly/10yGCd2 ) that the effort, called Operation Spring Break, is a joint effort that has involved 15 local and federal agencies. The drug sweep has focused on areas where law enforcement was looking to crack down on heroin, prescription pills, methamphetamine and cocaine in the county.
Sheriff Todd Entrekin says the majority of those arrested are repeat offenders. He says those arrested have to pay their fines, resolve their cases or stay in jail.
About 95 percent of the warrants being served are for felony drug crimes.
