Police search in New Hope for escaped Georgia inmate

NEW HOPE —

Police say an inmate accused of escaping from a south Georgia jail has been spotted in the Madison County town of New Hope.

Authorities say they began a manhunt Tuesday in the New Hope area for the inmate, Chad Dasher, who they say escaped from the Tattnall County Jail last month.

Dasher is accused of escaping with fellow inmate Raymond Smith. Smith was captured in Texas last week.

Authorities say Dasher has a history of fleeing from law enforcement and is considered armed and extremely dangerous.
