Man, 20, presumed drowned after falling into water

COURTLAND, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say they're searching for a body after a man fell into water while fishing with friends.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said Thursday that 20-year-old Simeon Gray is presumed drowned.

The Decatur Daily reports (http://bit.ly/14bm6RB ) that Gray and his four friends were fishing near the ramp of the Spring Creek bridge on Lawrence County 400 when Gray fell into the Tennessee River backwater Wednesday night.

Coroner Scott Norwood said Wheeler Dam — about 5 miles from the bridge — was pulling water at the time, so the river was swift.

Norwood said that search teams would be working with sonar. He said four trained dogs would join the search if needed.
