Man will move wife's grave from front yard

Associated Press

A Jackson County man has told a judge he will comply with a court order to remove his wife's body from his front yard.

James Davis testified during a hearing today.

David acknowledged that's he's lost a four-year court fight to keep the remains of his late wife Patsy outside his log home in Stevenson. Davis says he will hire a contractor to remove the body and have it cremated.

A judge still must approve the plan.

The city of Stevenson won a suit to have the body removed. The city argued the grave amounts to an illegal cemetery and wants the body moved Friday, which Davis says should be possible.

In his testimony, Davis said the exhumation and an urn will cost $2,745.
