Hoover teen killed in ATV accident

— HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — Authorities in Jefferson County say a 14-year-old boy has died in an ATV accident.

The county coroner says 14-year-old Steven Max Herring was riding an ATV and crashed into a utility pole Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say the vehicle overturned and trapped the teen beneath it.

Officials say Herring was wearing a seatbelt but was not wearing a helmet.

Rescue crews cut the seatbelt to free the teen and he was pronounced dead at Children's of Alabama.
