— MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Legislators from across the South will begin gathering in Mobile on Saturday for the annual meeting of the Southern Legislative Conference.
Alabama's speaker of the House, Mike Hubbard, is chairman of the organization. Hubbard said the meeting will showcase some of Alabama's most effective programs, including workforce development and the Impact Alabama student service initiative. The speakers include former baseball and football star Bo Jackson.
Hubbard expects more than 1,000 people to attend the conference at the Arthur Outlaw Convention Center. The event wraps up Tuesday.
