Boy, 4, in critical after accidental shooting

— BRIGHTON, Ala. (AP) — Police in the Birmingham area say a 4-year-old boy is in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head after an apparent accidental shooting.

AL.com reports (http://bit.ly/12z7N69 ) that Brighton police were called to a residence late Friday afternoon and found the wounded boy. He was taken to Children's of Alabama hospital.

Police say the boy and a 4-year-old girl were in a bedroom and one apparently got hold of a gun, though police weren't sure which.

WBMA-TV reports that adults were inside the home but in another room at the time of the incident.

Earlier this week, authorities say a 5-year-old boy in southern Kentucky accidentally shot and killed his 2-year-old sister with a rifle he got as a gift.
