State warns of detours, delays for project on I-20

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — State transportation officials are warning of detours and delays as they prepare for a major repaving project along Interstate 20 in the Birmingham area.

Alabama Department of Transportation officials say the work is expected to begin April 8.

WBRC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/Yq2aaY) that the I-20 eastbound lanes will be repaved first and then the westbound lanes will be repaved. The Department of Transportation says that each section will take 90 days to complete.
