Authorities investigate death of Huntsville inmate

— HUNTSVILLE (AP) — Authorities in Madison County say they're investigating the death of a Huntsville-Madison County jail inmate.

County coroner Craig Whisenant told WAFF-TV that Tanisha Jefferson died at a local hospital on Oct. 31. Jail officials say Jefferson complained of stomach pains and was given medication before she was hospitalized.

Authorities say Jefferson surrendered Oct. 14 on a harassment charge and foul play is not suspected in her death.

Whisenant says Jefferson's official cause of death remains unclear.
