Elderly Decatur woman found living with dead spouse

— Police in Decatur say officers found a 78-year-old woman who had been living at home with her dead husband for about a month.

Neighbors of Doris Kirby and her husband called police to check on the elderly couple, saying they hadn't been seen in months.

Officers found Kirby at her house Friday in poor health and had her taken to a hospital. Police said she suffers from Alzheimer's disease. Her husband, 75-year-old Jessie Claude Kirby, was found dead in his bed.

Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn ruled out foul play after examining the scene. Police say Kirby's husband had multiple health problems and died from natural causes.

Police say two dead dogs that appeared to have starved to death were also found inside the home
