Athens Municipal Pool opens May 31

— There’s nothing quite like a dip in a pool to cool down on hot Southern summer days.

The Athens Municipal Pool will open Saturday, May 31.

Officials said the pool usually opens the weekend before Memorial Day, but many of the lifeguards will still be attending school next week.

The pool, located at the Sportsplex on U.S. 31 near the Interstate 65 exit, will be open noon until 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

Admission is $3 for children age 12 and under and $4 for adults.

Season passes are $150 per family or $60 per individual and are available at the Athens Recreation Center.

The pool is also available for party rentals. The cost is $75 per hour with a two-hour minimum rental with a maximum of 100 people. It is available for rent from 6-9 p.m. Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. Sundays.

To find out more, call the Athens Recreation Center at 256-233-8740.
