18th annual TRIAD Trail Ride set for Sunday

— The 18th annual Limestone County TRIAD Trail Ride will take place Sunday, April 28, at Neal Johnston’s Farm in Minor Hill, Tenn.

Gates open at 11 a.m. The ride starts at 2 p.m. and will be followed by a chicken stew dinner and desserts.

TRIAD is an organization focused on reducing criminal victimization of older persons and works to improve the quality of life of senior citizens.

The Sheriff's Department, Athens and Ardmore police, Limestone AARP and Seniors And Law Enforcement Together sponsor the ride.

Sheriff Mike Blakely said the purpose of the trail ride is to help with any expenses associated with the local organization SALT, which is a part of The National Association of TRIADs.

The SALT Council was formed so that older citizens and law enforcement could interact as well as get to know each other and to make sure that local law enforcement was adequately serving the senior community, according to Blakely.
