Making v-rooom for annual car and bike show Saturday

— This weekend offers the opportunity to get a closer look at some of the more interesting and unusual cars and motorcycles seen on Limestone County roadways.

The sixth annual Cars and Bikes on The Square will hit downtown from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday followed by the Athens Cruise-In.

The rain or shine event is expected to draw at least 500 vintage and specialty vehicles and motorcycles.

Live entertainment will take place from 4-8 p.m., weather permitting.

In years past, the show has generated approximately 2,000-3,000 spectators. There is no charge to attend.

Bryan Fuller of Fuller Hot Rods will be on hand with what is considered his latest masterpiece — a customized hearse known as ThunderTaker.

There is no judging, but Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks will award a Mayor’s Trophy to one lucky car or bike owner.
