Halloween is here; rain expected

Indoor activities planned at several locations


There are a few indoor options for families who want to take part in festivities: 

• Candy Explosion. Soul’d Out Christian Center International-Alabama’s Candy Explosion is at 6 p.m. at The Boys & Girls Club, 1017 W. Washington St. in Athens. Club will be open as long as there is not a tornado risk. Organizers said children are also welcome to come earlier than scheduled.

• Youth Hollu-Festival. Saint Mark Primitive Baptist Church at 740 Sanderfer Road in Athens will host a festival with fun, food and games at 6 p.m. All ages welcome.

• Festival. Christian Fellowship Baptist Church at 8155 Alabama 53 in Toney will host a night of food, games and candy including a cake walk from 6-8 p.m. All ages welcome. The church is on Alabama 53 one-half mile south of Fowler Auction on the right.

• Festival. Salem Springs Baptist Church in West Limestone will host a night of games, candy and fun. All ages welcome. The church is located on Alabama 99 just before the West Limestone Volunteer Fire Department.

• Publix in Athens will hold an in-store trick-or-treat from 4-7 p.m.

• Athens-Limestone Public Library will hand out candy to anyone in costume who stops by the library at 405 E. South St.
