Dunnavant film wins documentary award

“Three Days at Foster,” the Keith Dunnavant film that will be shown in Athens in December, won a big Hollywood film award Monday night: Second place in the documentary category of the four-day All Sports Los Angeles Film Festival.

The award was presented to Dunnavant during a closing-night ceremony in which former Olympians Bruce Jenner, Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner also were honored. Presenters included swimming great Greg Louganis, former “Saturday Night Live” star Laraine Newman and Kris Jenner, one of the stars of TV’s “Keeping up with the Kardashians.”

“Our film was screening alongside some really outstanding documentaries in a festival that’s all about celebrating the power of sports as a life force, so this is a very humbling honor,” said Dunnavant.

“Three Days at Foster” focuses on the pioneer athletes who shattered the color barrier at the University of Alabama. It will be shown in the Athens State ballroom on Dec. 10.

Tickets are limited and are available for $15 at the Center for Lifelong Learning on the Courthouse Square, as well as ASU’s Office of University Advancement at 433 E. Pryor
