There is nothing Amy Horton wants to do more than cook for a living.
Now an earnest desire to share her passion has blossomed into a full-blown celebrity chef status for the Limestone County resident.
Last Saturday, Horton’s Facebook page, Amy’s Down Home Cooking, reached the milestone of 20,000 fans. This figure may not seem staggering, but considering less than a week before it had stalled out at around 6,000 fans, Horton is floored.
“It is very surreal,” she said.
She’s been in New York, looking for a publishing agent for her popular cookbooks — the second installment of which will hit shelves soon, with a third in the works.
Due to demand, volume one is actually in it’s second printing and pre-orders are still being taken for volumes one and two.
Through the miracle of social media, Horton’s homespun skillet skills are reaching a global audience.
