Quiz masters: Ardmore claims county title; Elkmont, Clements place in top 3

West Limestone’s Justin Andujar wins high scorer round

COXEY — Ardmore upended defending champion Elkmont at the High School Scholars’ Bowl tournament recently hosted by Blue Springs Elementary School, claiming this year’s county championship.

The Tigers and Red Devils each finished round-robin play with 4-1 records, with Ardmore winning the tiebreaker.

Clements emerged from a three-way tie with East Limestone and West Limestone, capturing third place in the six-team tourney.

Ardmore, led by high scorers Caleb Hilliard and Lance Smith and coached by Ashley Daly, joined West Limestone’s elementary team and Elkmont’s middle school squad as this year’s county champs.

The Tigers’ title-winning team also featured Pinak Patel, Seth Harris, Tristan McCulley, Emily Horn, Sharan Kaur, Sydney Whitt and Catie Kilmury.

The top 11 individual high scorers advanced to the tournament finale, a 30-question toss-up round won by West’s Justin Andujar.

Elkmont captain Michael Farris, the county’s defending high scorer, finished with the most cumulative points after six rounds of play, including the high scorer round.

Team high scorers also included Tanner’s Josh Lovett, West’s Blake Bennett, East’s Wade Cribbs and Paul Smith, Elkmont’s Cole Cook and Clements’ Cade Oligee and Zane Oligee.

Editor's note: Photos of the second and third-place teams and the high scorers will be published in upcoming editions.
