Career Tech students refurbish Ardmore Lions Club train

— Twenty-three students from the Limestone County Career Technical Center recently gave a facelift to a popular children’s ride.

Members of Mike Raney’s collision repair technology program showcased their skills by sanding and refinishing the Ardmore Lions Club children’s train, giving a black lacquer coating to the train tractor and painting the passenger cars a bright red, white and blue.

Lions Club member Mike Magnusson said the students’ work saved the club “ a great deal of money.” He said while Ardmore’s club uses the train for everything from appearances at vacation Bible schools to area festivals and park events.

Raney said participating students from Career Tech’s morning session were Preston Brewer, Dillan Clinard, Joe Dempsey, Carlos Fierro, Payton Ikard, Ryan Coffman, Savanna McCurley, Courtney McGee, Jordan Turner, Chad Scott, Jeffery Carter, Zack Salters, Alfredo Joya and Javier Armenta from the morning session.

Afternoon students included Alex Lintzy, Justin Similton, Ethen Santos, Robert Martin, David Ascencio, Dawion Barnes, Cole King, John Cordle and Joshua Sims.
