Athens kept its win streak alive Tuesday with a 48-47 win at Austin. The victory pushed the streak to 15 and kept the Golden Eagles in the top five in Class 5A.

The AHS boys are ranked No. 4 in the latest ASWA basketball poll, behind Wenonah, Sumter Academy and Faith Academy. Athens hosts 6A No. 7 Grissom Friday night at 7.

Tanner was the other boys team ranked. The Rattlers dropped to No. 8 in Class 2A.

In the girls poll, Tanner is the highest ranked Limestone team. THS moved up to No. 5 in Class 2A. West Limestone remained No. 7 in 4A while Athens dropped to No. 10 in 5A.

East Limestone recently wrapped up area play and finished a perfect 6-0 in 5A Area 15. East received enough votes to be ranked No. 12 in the 5A girls poll.

East Limestone boys and girls basketball teams will each host area tournaments the first week of February. East Limestone and Tanner will meet Friday at 7 p.m. in a girls semifinals matchup at the county tournament.
