Owens Harvest Festival

Owens Elementary Harvest Festival will be from 4-7 p.m. today. Barbecue plate armbands are $7 in advance; $10 at the door. There will be a silent auction as well as games and food.

Used book sale

Friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will have a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the library.

Breakfast fundraiser

The Bethel, Tenn., Masonic Lodge F&AM will serve a buffet breakfast from 7-9 a.m. today. Public invited. Proceeds to charity. Active military and veterans eat free.

Coffee Call

The Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives Coffee Call, sponsored by Sheriff Mike Blakely, will be from 8-9:30 a.m. today at the museum, 100 W. Pryor St. in Athens. Call the museum at 256-771-7578.

Parade, concert

The Veterans Day Parade will line up at Athens High School at 11 a.m. today and proceed westward down Hobbs Street. At 2 p.m. the Governor’s Own 151st Army Band Concert will be at the Limestone County Event Center.

Craft Fair-Silent Auction

Pottery workshop

There will be a pottery workshop in the sanctuary basement of First Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. to noon Monday. Beginners are welcome. No fee but donation basket is available to cover material costs.

Friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will have a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the library.

Toys for Tots Sign-Up

Toys for Tots sign up is from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the United Way office, 419 S. Marion St. Parents or legal guardians must have the following documents: Proof of residence – (Phone bill, or, utility bill, or lease); birth certificate for each child; Social Security card for each child; picture ID for parent or legal guardian. Mayor’s reception

The city of Athens will host a farewell reception from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Limestone County Event Center for former Mayor Dan Williams. All employees and the public are invited.

VFW Vets Day program

VFW Post 4765, Alabama 127, north of Athens will have a Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday. It will be followed by a chicken stew. Open to general public.

Respite Night

Caregivers Night Out will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Clements Baptist Church at 8690 U.S. 72 West. Make reservations no later than noon Wednesday at 256-232-7207.

Cookie decorating

Join the elves at The Donnell House Holiday Festival for a cookie decorating event
