March of Dimes benefit

Salon 53 in Toney will hold their second annual Cut-A-Thon to benefit March of Dimes, this year in honor of “Angel Kylie’s Hope,” from 1-4 p.m. today. All hair cuts are $10. Red Cross Volunteer Fair

The WAFF 48/Red Cross Volunteer Fair will be held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday at the Athens Senior Center, 912 W. Pryor St. The goal is to have more people registered and ready should disaster strike.

Parent/student meeting

A parent/student meeting for Athens Middle School eighth-grade students who will enter Athens High School for the 2012-2013 school year will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Athens High School cafeteria. Registration procedures, course offerings and graduation requirements will be discussed.

Women’s history

Maj. Gen. Heidi Brown from Redstone Arsenal with will present a women’s history program at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives. Contact: 256-771-7578.

Relay for Life fundraiser

Celebrity Waiters Night is Tuesday, March 27, at Applebee’s from 6-8 p.m. This is one of the fundraisers held by the City of Athens Relay for Life Team. Waiters this year are Mayor Ronnie Marks, Police Chief Floyd Johnson, Sheriff Mike Blakely, Council President Jimmy Gill, Council members Mignon Bowers, Jim Hickman and Harold Wales and Circuit Court Clerk Charles Page. The city’s team raised more than $7,000 last year.

Garden club fundraiser

The Athens Garden Club annual Spring Plant & Bake Sale Fundraiser will be held from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 21, under the breezeway at Sundry Printing at the corner of East Washington and Clinton streets.

Library page applications

Summer library page applications are available at Athens-Limestone Public Library through April 21. To be a teen summer volunteer at the library, you must be at least 13 years old by June 1. Tax service

RSVP Income Tax Service will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. every Monday and Thursday through April 17 at the First Baptist Church Youth Activity Center. No appointments will be given. Returns will be filed at no cost to the client.
