Possible drowning

A Limestone County Sheriff's Office boat assists in searching for a possible drowning victim Wednesday on Wheeler Lake.

Several agencies are continuing to search this morning for a possible drowning victim on Wheeler Lake off Motter Drive in Limestone County.

The Athens-Limestone Rescue Squad, Limestone County Sheriff's Office, Rogersville Police Department and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Marine Patrol began looking for the possible victim shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

There was one boat with two persons aboard, according to a press release from ALEA's Marine Patrol division. A social media post from the Limestone County Sheriff's Office said the possible victim is a male in his 50s who jumped or fell out of the boat as it approached a dock.

Wednesday morning, the Sheriff's Office and personnel from the Rogersville Fire & Rescue Service and divers from the Morgan County Rescue Squad were back on the scene. The Marine Patrol is also returning to assist with the operation.
