Organizers said alumni, students, faculty, staff, family and friends of Athens State University are invited to take part in the event.

This year’s space-themed event was inspired by the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing and will commemorate the time in our nation’s history.

The dinner celebration will be held Friday, July 26, in the Brown Hall Courtyard. Summer commencement will be held Saturday, July 27 on Founders Hall Lawn.

The homecoming celebration will begin at 6 p.m. July 26. The celebration will include a complimentary meal and entertainment provided by Muscle Shoals based bluegrass band Iron Horse.

Athens State’s summer commencement ceremony will be 9 a.m. July 27.

In addition to celebrating the Class of 2019, members of the Class of 1969 will participate in the ceremony and be honored for joining the “50 Year Club,” a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the class’s commencement.
